Hi, LibreOffice has recently upgraded itself to Version: 26.2.4.2 and all writer documents now have little dots all over them. I’m still on Windows 10. How can I get rid of them?
Thanks in advance,
Oliver
At special places? Like where you expect a space?
Or complete random?
For my first suggestion: You can switch off/on formatting marks:

Under Windows, it is highly recommended to reboot your PC to complete the upgrade process.
If this does not cure the problem, I guess the grid has become visible. Go to Tools → Options, LO Writer → Grid to hide the grid.
Further to @ajlittoz answer, please see ReleaseNotes/26.2 - The Document Foundation Wiki
.
Also yesterday was Update Tuesday for Windows so rebooting is essential after that, I rebooted twice to be sure.
Hi All,
Thanks for the information. Yes, I’m definitely seeing the grid, so I know what the problem is.
HOWEVER, @ajlittoz recommends looking at Tools → Options → LO Writer, but I can’t see this. If I look at Tools->Options in the home screen, LO Writer doesn’t show up. If I open a writer document, I can’t see an Options option anywhere. What am I missing?
Thanks again,
Oliver
What you call the “home screen” is probably the Start Screen, i.e. a generic window showing recent document icons. This window is not “specialised” and its Tools menu won’t show component- specific options. Open a Writer document or click on Writer Document to create a blank one. Then Writer-specific options become available in Tools → Options.
Thanks for that. You have to be patient - when you hover over the arrow at the bottom of the tools menu, Customise appears, but you have to hold on there for a few seconds before the Options appear. All now sorted.
Thanks for your patience and help.
Then you have a configuration problem on your computer (outside LO). See if you have some anti-virus running in the background or other OS tasks.
The breadcrumb trail almost always refers to the menu. I guess that you are using the Tabbed interface and don’t see the menu. To toggle visibility of the menu, click the top left icon with tooltip Menubar.
.
If LibreOffice is slow/flaky to render the screen when it changes, click Tools - Options - LibreOffice - View and tick the box Force Skia software rendering. OK and allow LibreOffice to restart
hello
Perhaps deselect paragraph marks in the display.
