I cannot download Libre Office 7.2. I begin to save the file & it goes so far then states download failed. I have Windows 10 & use Firefox
I imagine it is a temporary glitch with the mirror, it might be OK now. Under the download button is a link, info, click on that to see a list of other mirrors, as well as MD5 sums, etc.
Just check first
-
in Start menu > Settings > Apps > Apps & Features, under Choose where to get apps, that Anywhere is selected.
-
in the conveniently situated Start menu > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > App & Browser Control > Reputation-based protection settings > Potentially unwanted app blocking > Protection history that Defender hasn’t blocked the download (unlikely, but remember Windows ain’t done till competitors won’t run
).
Cheers Al
Got it thank you very much
I am also unable to download 7.2, however my download stops with a message that the code execution cannot proceed - mergedlo.dll not found. A further message states that Libre Office 6.4.4 Win x64 msi cannot be found. It shows as existing in my program files, but says the installation source unavailable. I am not able to uninstall the 6.4 either I am not techy…can anyone help me? Thank you.
Hi Your question isn’t an answer. It should have been a new question.
I assume you are using Edge browser because that downloads and starts the installation process automatically. I guess (because I don’t se Edge and am not going to) that LibreOffice has been downloaded and the installation file is in Downloads folder. With your stated level of experience, I would not recommend LO 7.2; you should really download 7.1.5.2 instead, it is stable.
Now, to your problem. I think you used some utility to “clean up” your main drive so the files needed to uninstall your current version are no longer on your computer; don’t do that.
First open your existing LO installation and see the exact version number in Help > About LibreOffice, it will be either 6.4.4.1 or 6.4.4.2 , write it down. Have a look at General installation issues (Windows) then follow the link to the archive to download the matching installation file for the version you wrote down. You need to download the win version, x86_64
I followed your instructions and downloaded the correct existing version of LO. However when I try to install I get the following 2 messages - Installation source is not available and in a box labelled Windows Installer - The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. What have I done wrong and can it be fixed? Oh, I am not using the Edge browser. I use Firefox. And yes, I used disk cleanup and obviously deleted something I should not have. I will probably never touch the delete key again. I appreciate your help.

Please post a screenshot of this. However, I’m pretty sure installation of the new version asks for the installation media of the old version (carefully read the text and version information provided by the error message) in order to correctly uninstall the old version (This is a Windows Installer Cache issue). You need to provide the old MSI package as well (@EarnestAl already pointed out). Read the text carefully and according to the information given above, you have installed version 6.4.4
, and if that’s still correct, you need file https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/6.4.4.2/win/x86_64/LibreOffice_6.4.4.2_Win_x64.msi in addition to the MSI you want to install. Depending on the error message you may need to rename file LibreOffice_6.4.4.2_Win_x64.msi
to LibreOffice_6.4.4_Win_x64.msi
.
I renamed the file as you suggested and it installed just fine. I thought I had renamed it on an earlier attempt as @Earnest Al suggested, but I must not have done so. Now, do I leave the version as is, or do I tempt fate and attempt to update to the current version? Thank you both so much for your help.

There is no reason now why you can’t upgrade to 7.1.5.2. I don’t recommend going to 7.2.0
OK and again, thank you very much.
