Draw - Inserting images and resizing. Aspect ratio mismatch

LibreOffice Draw.
Insert > Image…

Excuse me if this is a basic question but I could not find a solution in the HELP.

I insert an image. When I go to resize the image it gets distorted. I want to maintain the aspect ratio so it doesn’t get stretched or squished.

I tried to hold down SHIFT when resizing the image but it has no effect.

It’s mostly ok, if you insert a picture as file. Sometimes it goes wrong, if you use the clipboard and then it depends on the source, where you copied your picture. My workaround is: I write a image from clipboard, which could be inserted in draw/impress

According to google there seems a checkbox to fix aspect ratio:

Thanks Wanderer!
Yes, SHIFT does skew things. I guess they made changes since version 6, where it states:
https://help.libreoffice.org/6.4/en-US/text/shared/guide/insert_graphic_drawit.html

Holding down the Shift key while dragging restricts the created object. For example, instead of a rectangle you get a square, instead of an ellipse you get a circle. When you drag a handle of an existing object with Shift held down, the aspect ratio of the object is retained.

Thanks again.

The text in help is not changed in 7.5. Maybe this needs a bug report or update of the help. But I didn’t test, as I usually give a numeric value of width or height.

The text quoted is about drawn objects (not pictures inserted). So, not a bug here.

With pictures, just drag a corner handle to maintain aspect ratio. Shift will release this constrain (the opposite that with shapes). This can be considered for to an enhancement request.
