With LO 7.6.4.1 (x86_64) I attempt to edit a template using File>Templates>Edit Template>Arial.ott (my template).
The template file opens for editing, and I change the"Default Paragraph Style" from “Times New Roman” to “Arial”. There’s no error message, and I Save the file, noting that the file timestamp reflects the new save. I then click on “Default Paragraph Style” again and good old “Times New Roman” re-appears.
How do I get my changes to stick?
I assume that the work document was simultaneously open in a separate window while you were modifying the template.
Changes in templates are taken into account only when you open a document based on it. You need to close the work document and to re-open it to get the update dialog.
I write “based on the template”. This means that if you create a document by double-clicking on the template .ott icon, this won’t work. The created document will effectively contain the template definitions but is not associated with it. Only File>New>Templates records a link to the original template
