Editing master notes in Impress

I have a presentation someone else prepared in MSPowerpoint. I have opened and saved it in odp format. I have ticked “edit mode” in File menu.
I wish to change the layout of my Notes, with the slide image much reduced, and up in top right corner, and a larger notes pane, wrapping with the slide image. I used to be able to do this but now I find that editing the master notes slide only affects ONE slide’s notes (not the first either), not all of them.
If I try and edit individual notes then the image of the slide forbids me from resizing it with a “no entry” icon. Right clicking the image does nothing. The image ccan be dragged but not resized. I don’t remember encountering this problem before.

Thank you for the prompt reply.
I have now tried the following:

1. Creating a new user profile. - problem still there. Have reverted back to old profile.

2. Ran in Safe Mode - problem still there.

3. Creating a new presentation *.odp file. In a fresh presentation, one slide only…
   View Notes - the slide pane is not resizeable
   View Master Notes - the slide pane IS resizeable.

I have not tried installing a later version, as I prefer to stick to the version as updated by Linux Mint
updater. I have not found instructions that enable me to simply update Libre Office over the top of an existing installation. I have read Installation Instructions — LibreOffice and Installing LibreOffice on Linux - The Document Foundation Wiki and neither seem to deal with simply updating.

So the issue is with an existing presentation rather than creating one from scratch.
I can do long manual workrounds, but I’d rather use “master notes” to avoid that, and it isn’t doing what it used to do, and it doesn’t seem to be my profile that’s the problem. Thanks again for the help.

Okay, update, as I have resolved the issue. I updated LO using a PPA version installed over my existing version, following instructions from Linux Mint forum, and here: Easy Linux Tips Project: LibreOffice: Configure it Right
But that didn’t resolve the issue so it was neither a profile nor a version issue.

But looking at the problem again, with a freshly created one-slide LOI presentation, in Master Notes View I finally located how to create the box for the slide image in a Notes view. I have attached 2 screen shots.
Master Notes 1 shows the Master Note with the words “move the slide” up on the top left hand border. It turns out that is the thing to click and drag to get an adjustable moveable image of the slide into the top half of the Note view. I did that and that created another Master Note version.
I then right clicked each slide in the Notes view sidebar and selected Change Slide Master to select my newly created Master Note - as pictured in attached screenshot Master Notes 2.

So I solved my problem but if there are easier ways to do it I’d love to know.
