In the attached file I inserted endnote citations and references via MS word but in Writer they don’t show up. They show fine in OnlyOffice and SoftMaker if that helps.

From what I can see in the XML after conversion (loading) by Writer, your citation have been created with same third-party add-on. This utility inserted custom “fields” which are totally unknown to LO Writer.
When I open you document, the fields are shiwn from some internal cache. But when I switch View>Field Names, nothing displays, confirming Writer does not recognise the fields which are delimited by <field:fieldmark-start …> and <field:fieldmark-end/>.
If your goal is simply to read the document with Writer, check that View>Field Names is not ticked. Otherwise, if you want to edit the document, try to find a LO-compatible version of the add-on.
PS: you didn’t mention OS name and LO version. Here Fedora 42 with KDE Plasma desktop, LO 25.2.5.2.
