Any solution to deal with this bug?
Not unless you tell what the exact problem is.
Whilst many functions are apparently identical (i.e. work in both spreadsheets) the underlying logic used by Excel and Calc programmers may differ. Result - some complex compound functions/macros are not transferable.
If you need to transfer spreadsheets between systems, suggest you keep it simple.
Sorry - it’s a lesson I learnt some years ago, several months Calc work just wouldn’t transfer to Excel!
In this case “Equation” surely is used for an OLE object created with LibreOffice Math
.
I never use .XLSX
to unsave anything, but it may well be that the MS format is basically inapt to hold such an object. When I tried with LibO 7.3.3.2 the OLE object actually was lost. Anyway: Somebody using any Excel
would surely not be able to edit it.
If you urgently need to include an “Equation” made with Math
in an .XLSX
file, you need to convert it to a graphic first. Going via a helper document in Draw
you can convert a Math Formula
to a MetaFile
and having pasted this into your sheet it should be visible again after store/reload even in .XLSX
. Of course it can no longer be edited then.
@erAck: Writer seems to do the conversion of Math formulas to a kind of “preview graphic” automatically. Why not Calc? After all Calc also converts automatically on export to pdf or html.
For better understanding a commented example:
beta_CV.ods (37.6 KB)
(Very strange: The filename used for the uploaded example here by the disask software is different from the name of the actual file. It was the former name of the file chosen when its content still was completely different. I much dislike such effects - which in a similar way also occurred recently when exporting to pdf. Info about former names should simply not exist in a document.)
it’s right, you know the issue well
