what i think…
It is obvious that no everybody uses the available “outlining” function of LibreOffice…
it would be, however, a big mistake to take it as a “minor” need… just because it is requested only by a minority…
I believe that the functionality by which one can handle the outlining of a document (or many documents) is vital… both for the LibreOffice project and for those minority users who would actually need to use this functionality…
It is understood that the “ego” of the LO project does not allow copying MS Word’s outlining function…
still, it’d be useful to do something with what we have… with this navigator functionality…
I don’t want to suggest how it should work… instead, I suggest that we should talk about it…
by which we could create a base for the development…
I guess the best thing is to start with the navigator…
and improve it to meet the needs…
and we’ll see if it’s the copy of the MS project’s functionality or it is something new…
my suggestions:
we should be able… to copy the text in the navigator “window” (panel)… and paste it in a document…
this copy-paste should keep the header-tags, header formatting… so that a
section
would be pasted in that document as a h1 section… and not as plain text…
(nevertheless, copy-pasting back to this “window” would not be possible)
we should be able… to change the font size in this panel
this navigator, then… could behave as a document window… (as for the alt+tab behavior)… but it could be docked if someone really insisted, I personally would not
