Find and Replace with Formatting

The current version of LibreOffice has a very confusing dialog for Formatting when doing a Find/Replace. When I click Format I get a two-paned window. The left and right panes are identical save that in the right pane there is also a button labeled Asian. In practice, I find that if I try to apply formatting using the left pane it is ignored, but if apply formatting to the right pane it seems to work.

What is that left pane for? If it’s nonfunctional can it be removed, or if it has a use can the panes be labeled?

Me too; but if I am searching for western text, the left side is the one that works (and that for the Find and for the Replace fields).

In order to find&replace with a new formatting, choose [Replace All], which will select all replacements, and then apply a character style to the selection.

Interesting, thanks for the screenshot. In my interface there are blank buttons where you have “Western” on the left and “Complex” on the right. (A long-standing bug makes some things display with white text on white background on Mac.) This means I’m using “Complex” instead of Western. I would have expected US English to count as Western, maybe not though.
