Find/Find and Replace don't work in LibreOffice Calc

I’ve seen much discussion with many folks having this problem, but no solution. Find doesn’t find what is plainly there to find. Works fine in Writer, but not Calc.

No way to help you based on your minimal description. Please give us some more details about the problem.

  • LibreOffice version? (Beta, Fresh, Still or older? And is it 64bit/32bit version?)
  • Operating system version?
  • Antivirus software?
  • Other environment and hardware properties (server - client, used input devices, memory size, etc…)
  • Is appeared any error message?
  • Freezed the software?
  • How you tried to use the feature?
  • What happened, and what not happened when you tried to use the F&R feature?
  • Are there third party Hotkey softwares, Clipboerd manager foftwares installed?
  • etc…

I never had such problem with LibreOffice (I have installed and used many versions of it installed permanently and as a portable version…)

What can’t you find? A sample file and something that can’t be found would be a good starting point.

Maybe the problem lies elsewhere, e.g. Faq/Calc/How to convert number text to numeric data - The Document Foundation Wiki

I could not even find a question in your opening…
.
IMHO you could prepare a little file, upload it here, tell what you have in “plain sight” and ask if/why we see the same
or
enjoy your vision alone.

Thanks for the snark. It was simply an opening question which I was hoping was known among the community. I’m new at this. Thanks for the welcome.

Yes, I now plan to provide more info and an upload when I have time.

Have a nice day. Enjoy your perfect life!

Sure it us known but there are endless possibilities if things you see. Pictures can be “read” by you, but not by the typical computer. You may clearly see the Month december and i can’t be found as it is only a calculated figure in the cell…
.
It has lines and there are columns.
Some see endless possibilities
some have to fill the void
some use calculus
some just guess
some may use sql
Often it’s a sudoku.
.

take your time - somebody will read your words some time - ona of the advantages on the net

I started to supply the necessary troubleshooting info but figured out my problem. The cells were rounding values so that the display wasn’t the actual data to match in a search.

Thanks for your willingness to help!

I started to supply the necessary troubleshooting info but figured out my problem. The cells were rounding values so that the display wasn’t the actual data to match in a search.

Are those values rounded really or they are formatted with decreased decimal digit display?

There is an option for the formatted appearing of the numeric values in the F&R feature.

That was the problem. I had thought I had progressed through all the
possibilities. But when I had tried the formatted display option, I
hadn’t included the comma separator (43,256) because without formatted
display, including the comma spoiled the search.

Thanks for your help!

Comma or Dot decimal separator: they are locale dependent parameters.
