Finding it impossible to apply Heading 2 to just a single line

Hey all!

Please see the screen recording GIF below, how do I make just he line “Lenses Intro” a Heading 2 and not the text following it? I even added a blank line (which I did not desire to have) try to add some separation, but Libre office says no… any tips on what I am doing wrong?

Version: 7.3.7.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 30(Build:2)
CPU threads: 12; OS: Linux 6.8; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-ZA (en_ZA.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 1:7.3.7-0ubuntu0.22.04.10

You must have some LineBreak after “Lenses Intro” and it must be ParagraphBreak.

Turn on formatting marks by pressing Ctrl+F10, and you will see that everything that is formatted is in a paragraph.

I saw my version was pretty old, I updated to 25.3 and now I dont have the issue. I wish I had waited for these suggestions before updated to confirm what was the issue, thanks for the really fast help!

To change a paragraph style, it is safest to just click in the paragraph and apply the style.

Don’t select the paragraph, if you miss a bit of the paragraph, you might get an inline heading instead. I assume that is what you got with the later version but you have formatting marks turned off so you might not be able to see the frame around the first part of the paragraph.

In your screenshot, it seems pretty clear that all the lines that changed style were the same paragraph, just separated by line breaks (Shift+Enter) not paragraph breaks (Enter).
