Firebird missing in Base

I am now using LibreOffice 7.3.0.3 on Ubuntu (Mate) 20.04.
I have several database files, all of them were originally HSQLBD integrated, and I converted serveral into Firebird.
Now I can no longer use the Firebird databases and I no longer have a Firebird option when creating a database.
Strange, because I used to get the suggestion to migrate to Firebird…

Firebird has been reset to experimental status.
Start LibreOffice and select Tools>Options>LibreOffice>Advanced from the menu.
Place a check mark next to “Enable experimental features”.

Has not been tested by me.

If you have created databases for Firebird you could use this databases without changing to experimental features in LO downloaded directly from LO. Only creating new databases is an experimental feature since LO 6.4.3 again.

If you switch experimental features on there will appear the migration wizard also, which want’s to migrate your HSQLDB databases to Firebird.

Thanks for your answer.
Unfortunately, the problem is still there… and even worse.

I had a problem and had to reinstall Ubuntu.
So I got an older LO version 6, it was working with fine with all my databases.

Then I updated using the ppa:libreoffice/ppa repository
It installed LibreOffice 7.3.0.3 30(Build:3)
Experimental features are on

Result is that I cannot use any of my databases. I got these error messages

  • List item
    Base Firebird

I do get the invitation to migrate to Firebird…
Java is Ubuntu 11.0.14

Any hint on what is missing and how to solve the problem?

Sincerely

Silvain

Simply do not migrate from HSQL to Firebird. There is nothing wrong with HSQL.

I have several DataBases, 2 of them are Firebird
I thing I had installed an flatpak LO 7.3 version, and could only open HQDLBD databases
After reinstallation and updating LO with the ppa, none of my databases work on LO 7.3.0

I tested on another computer, with LO 7.2.5, snap version, all of them work.

What’s wrong with my installation??

There is no connection available for Firebird and also no connection for HSQLDB. You are using the packages from Ubuntu. I see you have written Build:3.

Please install the original from LO directly or look for packages, which contain database drivers for Base.

Do not change your setup. Simply use whatever you have with the configuration that works for you. Flatpak is dysfunctional. For instance, Signal messaging software can not access my microphone when installed as a Flatpak package. Flatpak packages do not see my /tmp directoy. Likewise, it may not see any Java installed on the regular system. Everything is perfectly integrated and working well if you either stick to apt sources or explore your path through the packaging chaos.
Aftre 9 years with Ubuntu, my next distribution will be something else.
