This is a really interesting video by Sean Johnson (businessprogrammer.com) about the “Firebird” option with LibreOffice.
It’s about the ODBC option with LibreOffice because he does not connect his Base document directly to the Firebird DB.
Sean creates a Firebird database with a 3rd-party tool “FlameRobin” and a first table with an auto-ID. Then he configures a system wide ODBC source pointing to that database and plugs a Base document to that ODBC source.
Finally, he demonstrates how to issue SQL statements to the same database using either LibreOffice or FlameRobin.
Writer can help generating Firebird and HSQL databases.
