Font formating in Formula not applying

If you change the font of Functions to Bold in Libre Writer, its keep resetting to regular font every time we reopen the file.
Is this a bug, or Functions are not allowed to set in bold formatting.
If Functions can’t be set to bold, why is the option for bold given in formatting of Functions in formula.
Im using windows version 7.0.6

Definitely a bug - please file it.

Filed as tdf#143213 but closed it NAB.

Please look at my comment with screen capture there: this is definitely a bug; Pi not getting bold is just a red herring.

Formally your question is not about Writer. It is about a Math behaviour issue (should have been tagged math).

Math is the LO formula editor.

Unfortunately, Math is not as actively maintained and developed as the other suite components. It lags far behind in its capabilities.

Two shortcomings are notable:

  • no style concept

This means it is impossible to change the appearance of existing formulaes from a single location. They must be edited manually.

  • no global configuration

There is no “LibreOffice Math” section in Tools>Options. Changes you make with the various menu items are not saved from session to session (in the user profile).

From a usability point of view, they are serious shortcomings. You can submit a bug report by you’ll probably get a faster response if you patch Math yourself.

Lately Dante is working hard on Math.

I didnt knew this was a seperate app. I thought it was a window within libre writer.

Your example formula has no ‘Function’ from sm perspective, just ‘Variables’ and ‘Numbers’

“Functions” are as found on the the Math formula editor Element’s ‘Functions’ panel.

Currently, only these strings in a sm expression will take the assigned ‘Function’ formatting (the font–including a bold or italic styling, and size):

e
ln
exp
log
sin
cos
tan
cot
sinh
cosh
tanh
coth
arcsin
arccos
arctan
arccot
arcsinh
arcosh
artanh
arcoth
func

When used, they all will take the font and size formatting applied via the Format → Fonts… and Format → Font Size… dialogs.
