Formatting a spreadsheet column to all caps

I’ve tried formatting a column from
/Format/Text/UPPERCASE.

But it doesn’t stay. next time I enter text, it is lower case until I change.
Am I using the wrong method for formatting text in a column?

so even though the font I used (calibri) changes to upper, there is no way it’s gonna stick unless I choose a font that has all caps - effect? I’ve not heard the word effect used in relation to fonts.
None of the fonts you mention come up in Format Cells.

Calibri font doesn’t support UPPERCASE in font features. It does however support Small Caps for both uppercase and lowercase.
You could either:

  1. Create a style with Calibri and with Features set with Capitals to Small Capitals and Lowercase to Small Capitals ticked, or just enter Calibri:c2sc&smcp in the Font name. You might want to increase font size
  2. Direct format the column: select the column and enter in the font name box Calibri:c2sc&smcp
