Formatting all page cells

I’m trying to format all cells on a page, but only the cells with text in them are changing even when I select all cells. What gives?

…I’m using the upper left square to select all cells. I also tried “select all” from menu. Either selection only changes the cells with text in them.

If I “cut” the text and apply the change, all cells are affected and then I can paste in my text back in. If I have a page full of text this solution could get cumbersome very quickly though. Surely I’m missing a simple element here.

In the Calc use the Cell Styles. Just modify the format properties of the applied Cell Style, even if it is the Default Cell Style. Or you can apply an another cell style (a built is one or a custom one).

it still only modifies the cell with text unless i delete text then apply…which is dumb.
