Formulas displayed, instead of results, every time I open Calc.

I’ve made sure the Menu/Tools/Options/Calc/View “Show Formulas” box is UNchecked. I save the spreadsheet, and the next time I open it, the formulas are back, not results. I can restore results by using the shortcut key combination of CTRL+~ (which is not in the shortcut list), but it’s a bother to have to do this every time I look at the spreadsheet. This behavior began about a week ago, and I am at wits end how to correct this. Any help?
