Frustrations with Configuration [prevent the splash screen when launching LibreOffice from the command line]

How can I set the --nologo option to prevent the splash screen from appearing when launching LibreOffice from the command line, a launcher, or any other method? Setting it in the .desktop file on Linux doesn’t work, and creating a bash alias only applies to the command line. Why doesn’t LibreOffice have a configuration file for these settings? It’s frustrating to navigate through a complex settings interface with so many options instead of having a straightforward config file. Why don’t the developers allow us to set any preferences more easily?

For them this is easy. They are used to read specs and test the stuff, they don’t find in specs. And having a commend-line parameter is a very fundamental concept, wich even works without configuration files…

Often there is more than one place for this… But as you only mentioned Linux you obviously have covered this topic fully yourself.

You could create bash scripts, but to call them from your desktops launcher you would create .desktop files, wich “doesn’t work” for you (I’m simply assuming it works for some other users.)

Maybe this: How to stop the splash logo from displaying on start-up?

If I call libreoffice from command line with the file I get a blank window that opens for a second instead of the logo. Do you know where that comes from and how to get rid of it?

There are hundreds of configurations that can only be set in the menus not even in the command line. Configuration files are a very fundamental concept. You can’t customize everything the way you want and just copy the configuration file to another computer or restore from backup. Unfortunately libreoffice developers don’t understand usability.

A long guide on how to report an issue is what I expected from libreoffice developers. Maybe if they spent less time using using ugly and outdated bugzilla their design skills would improve?
