Get rid of .ODT files in folder

When I work in a folder and save files I always get two files, the first is the one I was working on, and the second is filename.odt. Is there a way to not see these .odt files in my folder. Thanks.

The .odt files are your Writer files. What are the files with another extension?

The files are whatever standard they are saved with while working on a text documents. The ODT files look like they are direct copies of the original file but cannot be open with any text document that I see . So I’m just looking for a way to not have them show up on my folder View . They’re just repeats of the documents in that folder View with an ODT extension.

@AKDR
try to read and understand the wiki-site about .~lock.your_filename.odt# provided by @Hrbrgr above your Comment!

I will assume that you’re in Windows. Open the Explorer window (Win+E), in Options > View, untick the box that says View hidden files and folders select the option that says Don’t show hidden files, folders or drives

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I’ll take some time in the next day to go through them and see if one or all of them work . Appreciate this forum for being here when we need it.
