Trying to get to grips with Draw. Using 7.3.7.2
According to the Draw Guide 7.5, holding down the cntrl key while drawing a line, the end snaps to the nearest grid point. When I hold down the cntrl key, no snap happens. I have tried with ‘snap to grid’ option selected and also without.
What am I doing wrong?

To become familiar with snapping, you should set (temporarily) the Snap range to a larger value. Then you can see, when snapping happens. The default 5 pixels setting is too small to see snapping. A value of e.g. 25 pixels makes snapping visible.
The setting is in Tools > Options > LibreOffice Draw > Grid.

I think you are using a Connector, not a Line. See this answer, Impress doesn't respect snap settings? - #2 by EarnestAl
