I need a table entered in an endnote in a writer document but insert table doesnt seem to work here (greyed out). Is it possible?

- A proper table object appears unavailable in notes.
- Columns can be applied to the endnote page style, but the setting doesn’t actually split content to columns.
- Columned section also appears to be available, but in the end it is not inserted.
- Old school: You can use the typewriter style tables; set tab stops and insert tab spacing.
As a workaround you can set a frame into the endnote.
Frames can include tables as well as sections.
For a sufficient layout anchor the frame as character.
To avoid the trailing paragraph after the table you may use as the shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+DEL at the very last paragraph of the table.

I thought to solve your problem with a workaround based on frames. Unfortunately, endnotes, notes more generally, are special bits of data: they are “deferred contents”. When they are collected (at anchor point of the note), Writer does not know yet where and how the note will be laid out. This implies restrictions on several settings, such as those for text flow.
But other issues come into the way. Probably due to the “deferred” behaviour, the frame does not interact with note text. Text is flown as if the frame did not exit. The frame is painted in a top layer over any text. And since its background is not transparent but white (without configuration possibility), the frame hides the text underneath.
This was for “normal” frames, i.e. with To paragraph anchor.
As a replacement, I experimented with As character frames. It works better but not 100% satisfactory.
- you can’t predict where the frame will appear in the endnotes page: you’ll be limited by the fact that a frame can’t cross page boundary, nor be split between pages
Consequently, this is usable only for small tables. - contrary to ordinary text, it is next to impossible to position the frame to a precise character position
It looks like an As character frame inserts either at start of end of paragraph. Trying to put it somewhere else requires ugly hacks through copy-pasting text before or after the frame.
Additionally there is a problem with Endnote paragraph style left indent and first line indent, causing the frame to be offset to the right.

As always when frames are involved, DON’T direct format in any way (don’t even resize or move with the mouse). This would turn editing/updating your document into a nightmare.
The frames in my sample document are controlled by frame style EndNoteTable.
