how can I paste a snip & sketch into libreoffice writer

I got a new computer that came with LibreOffice Writer of which I am using instead of MS Word.
After taking a screen snip using snip & sketch tool I would paste it info my doc but with Libre this does not seem to work.
I went under Tools | Options saw that the ‘Images and objects’ under Display was checked.

I have Windows 10, LO 6.4.4.2 (x64), and Snip & Sketch pastes into Writer no problem if I use the shortcut combination of Win+Shift+S. S&S pastes as Windows Bitmap which is in as a graphics filter in LO Writer.

If I open the Snip & Sketch app and use the menu in that to make a screenshot S&S pastes the clipboard contents into its own window. Once that has happened I cannot paste that content into LO. To add annotations, it must create a temporary format that is not compatible with Writer (pastes fine into XnView though). If I Save As then I have choice of PNG, JPG or GIF to save as all of which import happily into LO Writer

In Settings in Snip & Sketch I have Auto Copy to Clipboard turned on. If I turn that off then I can paste the clipboard even if I have used the menu in the S&S window but if I annotate the picture at all and copy it then Writer cannot paste.

2 choices:

  1. Use keyboard shortcut and not annotate
  2. Annotate and Save as…

Ctrl+Shift+V shows BMP. Bug?

Snip & Sketch with annotation pastes into Inkscape, Gimp, and Thunderbird OK. I wonder if the BMP import filter is not handling it properly or if there is another format on the clipboard that LO can’t import.
