Having printed six copies of the first page of my document, I discovered that I needed to add page numbers to the other three pages. But adding page numbers to all pages would push the contents of the first page onto the second page. I was able to prevent the content overflow by simply giving the footer zero spacing, but for future reference, can the first page’s footer be removed entirely?
You basically need to set the first page to use the First Page page style (which has no header or footer by default). Instructions can be in these questions: here, here, or here. There is an option under Format > Page… > Footer tab for setting Same content on first page but it is not terribly effective IMO.
I should also note that if you want to maintain the content of footers on subsequent pages that you should first set the First Page page style (right click Modify… > Organizer tab) to have a Next Style of whatever page style your pages are using e.g., Default Style.
