How do I change leader line thickness, color, etc.in LO Calc?

OS: Windows 10
LibreOffice version 26.2.5.2
Using a simple .ods, attached.
Leader Line Example.ods (27.9 KB)

I’d like to know if it’s possible to change the properties of the leader lines connecting data points to data labels, as in the example .ods provided (where I’ve selected a Category to use as Data Labels for a series rather than the default Y values).

Formatting the Data Label object gives the option to connect displaced data labels to their corresponding data points; but it defaults to a thin black line I can hardly see against my dark background, and I would like to be able to format it just like any of the other lines in the chart.

Any help is much appreciated.

Please test with Menu>Help>Restart in Safe Mode.

It seems only the pie chart and of-pie chart allow for partial (stub if you like) customization. The leader line may use the border color of the data series. See examples in the attached file
chartPIES.ods (43.2 KB)

It doesn’t work for other types of chart.

As for API: I only found working ShowCustomLeaderLines (show / hide leader lines).

I’m afraid I can’t be of much help.
One could consider (not-so-good or cumbersome workaround):

  • manually adding lines of a selected color and thickness to the chart in Calc — via the Drawing toolbar (or paste the chart into Draw as an image and make the necessary changes there)
  • using macro: an example of “leader lines” is given in Chart Annotations in LO Calc
