I would like my slides to show mobile phone images but I have a lot of (16:9) white space I want to remove. If I change the slide format in properties, this affects the content too. So I want to CROP the background.
Any ideas?
Workaround
Open Impress.
For slide settings, select:
Format: Kai16
Orientation: Portrait
In the menu, select Insert > Media > Photo Album.
In the “Create Photo Album” dialog, select Add.
Select all the images.
Click Insert Slides.

Thanks, but this still changes the format of the images (along with other overlying assets).
I can select all & choose Format>Image>Original, which works, but that doesn’t replace the overlying text boxes or audio play buttons to where they were.
What I have found though is the “User” screen format where I set the dimensions & untick “Fit object to paper format” in Layout options. I’ve had to Select All in each slide to reset position which is long but I’m getting there.
I’m also surprised there’s no obvious “Mobile phone” option among the Screen formats offered. This must surely be more common now than various “envelope” or “letter” formats!
