I have some visual problems. I want to print recipes which I find on line. I want to have the entire recipe on one side, so that I do not have to turn over the sheet or have two pages.
I need to maximize the available space for printing on one sheet.
I can adjust the left and right margins.
However, I can’t find margins for the top and bottom.
I assume they are now called headers and footers.
But I can’t find where to zero them out or at least make them smaller.
Please help. Many thanks.

While you are adjusting your margins you could set your page to have two columns, this will maximise space and make it easier to read. Just make sure the space between the columns is wide enough to give good separation.
No, headers and footers are different elements of the page. See if that help: What are relationships between different elements (margins/borders/paddings etc.) of a page?.
The properties have to be changed in the page style settings, Page tab, and make sure the header and footer are unactive in their respective tabs.

After a long long search, I found the solution:
Format>Page Style>Page All margins can be controlled here.
By default, header and footer are not enabled in page styles, but margins, as no-print area are.
To change margins, Format>Page Style, Page tab.
If your goal is to print a sheet, pay attention to the mechanical constraints of your printer: most printers can’t print edge to edge and need minimal lateral margins to feed and guide the sheet.
I assume that you presently tune your formatting with the ruler cursors. These don’t play on margins (which remain as they are defined in the page style) but on what is called indent which is a paragraph property. Negative indents allow you to spill over into margins but this is not their primary use. In addition indents must be set for every paragraph style. I again assume everything is formatted Default Paragraph Style which explains why it works.

This would have been given as a solution but your question was about header and footer. You mentioned you decreased the side margins, implying you did so int page style Page tab.
Retrospectively, I understand you played in fact with paragraph indents (likely with the ruler) instead of page margins. Indents are extra space added to the page margin effective for a single (or several) paragraph(s).
When asking questions, beware of vocabulary: there are so many features in an app like Writer that words need to designate very precise concepts and they acquire a less general meaning than common sense.
