How do I disable recent document saving?

Aside from removing it from menu or making it so it doesn’t show as icons in the center area, how do I prevent Libre from saving “recent document” information altogether?

Also, none of those required tags mean anything to me “common, writer, calc, impress, base, draw, math or meta” give me a break. I had to choose one at random to post. I choose “base” because it seems pretty basic to be able to disable recent documents. How useless to have tags put in at random where people posting and people looking don’t know what they mean.

There really should be a option to simply disable recent documents in settings/preferences.

zcot of linuxmint-help irc channel found the answer for me. Thank you.

Tools > Options > Advanced > Expert configuration. Type picklist and search button. It’s the 2nd in the list. Change the value to 0.(it was set at 25 for me) which should mean 0 total allowed history tracked.

But this was way too buried, a option like this should be much easier to do.

Thank for you this - concise and it works - much appreciated. Works in version 6.2 as well. An option to set the viewing amount right beside where it lets you clear recently viewed documents would be greatly appreciated in future updates.

Thank you VERY much. Worked like a charm!

For macOS:

  • LibreOffice menu > Preferences…
  • Options window > LibreOffice section > Advanced > Open Expert Configuration button (bottom right corner)

In the Expert Configuration window, click the Preference Name column header to sort the preferences alphabetically, then double-click the preference names to expand them and find the History preference’s PickListSize property:

Preference Name: Property: Type: Value:
...
- org.openoffice.Office.Common
    ...
    - History
        ...
        History PickListSize long 25

Double-click the PickListSize line to edit it, and enter 0 (zero) for the value.

Hi,
Using 7.1.1.2 libreoffice>preferences>advanced>open expert config>picklist size seems to work. New to this, is there a way to check that question was apparently answered?

( this is not an answer, just a large comment )

Hello @starved,

i just changed the required tag for this question from “base” into “common”, because Base is actually the LibreOffice application for database processing.

The other tags that you mentioned:

Tag: Tag intended for:

Writer	– questions about the LibreOffice application for text processing.

Calc – questions about the LibreOffice application for spreadsheets.

Impress – questions about the LibreOffice application for presentations.

Draw – questions about the LibreOffice application for drawing.

Base – questions about the LibreOffice application for database processing.

Math – questions about the LibreOffice application for formula editing.

Common – questions that apply to more than one LibreOffice component.

Meta – questions about using the AskLibreOffice website.
