How do I group two images as one image in Libre Office Writer version 7.6.4.1.?

I am using Windows 11, on an HP Laptop, the day is 28/10/2024 Im from KL Malaysia, the weather is about 27degrees celcius, its 1.00pm now and I think the sun is still out. Is that all the INFO YOU REQUIRE to answer this ?

Oh and please do not tell me that THIS cannot be done. Cos if you cant even make a word processing app that is able to group 2 images together as 1, in the year 2024 mind you!! so please stop telling it cant be done.

Correction as at of : 1.09pm the weather outside is reading as 34o deg C. Yup its hot as heck.

We can send Astronauts to the Moon and back. We can send rockets to the ship and land back like SpaceX could do. DONT FREAKIN tell you cant develop an app that cant group 2 images together as 1.

You have tagged both Draw and Writer

Draw

Click first object, hold down Shift and click second object. Click *Shape > Group > Group*.

If you want to edit the items in Draw and paste into Writer then you don’t even need to Group, they will be grouped in Writer as a Draw object.

Writer

Writer is primarily for editing text. Shapes can be grouped by the same method as in Draw but images can't.

For images, create a Frame large enough to hold both images.
Select one image. Click and hold on the anchor and drag the anchor into the frame; adjust position of image to suit within the frame.
Repeat for the second image.

DONT FREAKIN tell me that you don’t even try to understand who you are addressing your “you can’t develop” in this age of astronauts on the moon - on this user-to-user Ask site. Don’t tell you don’t see a difference between “can’t develop” and “didn’t develop in a way I wanted”.

In general, this whole “question” is a curious sample of most poorly worded, intentionally insulting questions (“I will put the weather info, trying to tell you how I despise the need to provide the information; I will tell you what to tell me and what not…”).

Think an be on We can and you can’t. Are you adressing the same group? Perhaps consider to ask ast NASA and SpaceX.
.
Another option would be to give TDF the same funding (NASA) or to sell anOffice-Software, but for that we already have Microsoft…
.
I’m really impressed by @EarnestAl as he professionally answered this question.

Can or Cannot ? Group 2 images together as 1 ?
Its a very simple question. Answer it. a simple yes or no will suffice.

So this means in order to Group 2 images and make it as 1, you cannot do it on Libre Office Writer.

But you need to open up another app just to do this then copy paste it back at Writer ?
Pray do tell, how is this an alternate solution to MS-Word then ?

You can do this on Word, just be clicking on one image, shift hold the image, right click, click on Group. DONE !

Something that takes just within 3 clicks. And can be done in 1 word processing app.
It can be achieved in seconds. But if a user is using Libre Office Writer, I would require to do this SAME task but need to open up 2 separate apps.

Can you imagine the productivity levels lost for EVERY user using Libre Office now ? Do you see now the Importance of being USER FRIENDLY ? How many users are really frustrated now. You cant expect all of us to just keep silent and tolerate this.

I really really really really want to Support Libre Office. But the way you guys are treating us are just unbelievable.

Its not about the way I wanted. Who are your customers here ? Libre Office Writer Users who want to use a good and easy to use Word Processor right ?. People who have already been using MS Word before. If you want all of us to STILL use Libre Office Writer? Then you will need to ensure that the users get the best experience of using the app right ?

or do you rather Develop a word processor for app developers ? Whats the objective here people ?

If you don’t want to read the answers then this might help
TwoImagesInOneFrame

It isn’t the only way of putting two images in one frame

Draw is an integral part of LibreOffice so not another app but rather another part of the same program.
Draw is designed for drawings and can handles images, the name gives it away.

You do know that this is a user-to-user site, do you? If you want to report an enhancement request this is not the place to do it, see How to Report Bugs in LibreOffice - The Document Foundation Wiki

Then use the tool you need…

Interesting question as this is free open source software. You don’t need to pay anything. So no “customers”? User can choose any tool they like and there are more than 2 Office suites available.

I can’t speak for TDF, but if you have the Impression LibreOffice is a clone of MS-Office or tries to be, you are completly wrong. For obvious reasons it is necessary to read and write their formats (and it is sometimes funny to see better support for old MS files in free suites than in MS-Office itself), but the internals of MS-Office and Open/LibreOffice are quite different.
.
Test it. Use it,i f you like. Leave it, if you don’t. If it is so easy, you are even allowed to change it…
But I guess to motivate others to do this changes for you, you have to improve your communications.

From the How to Use Ask LibreOffice page I linked to earlier:

  • Comment fields should always be used to clarify communication. Answer fields are always reserved for solutions or for workarounds.

In other words, please don’t use Suggest a Solution for a comment. Delete your “answer” and post it as a comment, but only if you think it will help to clarify your question.

Since the LibreOffice development team cannot develop an application that does what you want. Why don’t you develop it yourself?
Frankly, I find your post demanding and insulting.

When an user want to quote part of a conversation, select the text and select Quote from the pop-up menu.
This is very intuitive but Ask LibreOffice treats it as an answer, and not a comment.
This causes reprimands like the one you just gave me (I have seen many in different posts).

I think this behavior of Ask LO should be improved

Workaround:
Create a comment first then add the quotation

As you can see, this is what I did in my previous comment,

But the Workarround is not always applicable, due to memory lapses and the use of other instances of Discourse that I am signed up for that do not work the same. (Don’t have comments, only Answers)

I came here for support from Libre Office not any other users yapping on their own point of view. I came here for solution. And I believe this is relatively extremely EASY task and something that Everyone from all over the world will be doing.

Grouping with images on a word processor. But what I get ? Just another some random user commenting on another user. This is NOT YOUTUBE comments. We require solutions for the problems we are facing. And I am not even posting a question that is SO super advanced anyways.
