I want to highlight text in a cell or the entire cell.
AFAIK you can’t highlight text in Calc, only the cell background. You can change the colour of text
If you can’t see the icons (with tooltips) for text colour (A with a coloured bar underneath) or for background colour (Paint bucket with coloured bar underneath it) immediately above the formula bar then you can:
For Background
- click Format > Cell in the dialog select the tab Background, click the colour button and choose your colour. OK.
- Open the sidebar (press Shift+F5 once or twice), click the icon at the right with tooltip Properties. Under Cell Appearance for Background click the drop down to select a colour.
For Text colour, select the text then
- Click Format > Character in the dialog select the tab Font Effects, under Font Effects choose your colour. OK.
- Open the sidebar (press Shift+F5 once or twice), click the icon at the right with tooltip Properties. Under Character there is an icon which looks like an A with a coloured bar underneath it. Click the drop down arrow next too it to select a colour.
This is very basic. If you want the colour to change depending on the value of the cell then you will need conditional formatting. Help or the Calc Guide are useful tools and can be found at documentation.
