How do I record a new macro?

Super noob. I tried to record a new macro, but only saw the possibility for running one. Can someone please explain to me how to record a new one? Here’s what I’m trying to do:

  • cut row
  • insert row above my new selected row
  • paste cut cells

In effect, I’m trying to drag the row to my desired place, but there doesn’t seem to be a drag capability.

Thank you.

Hello,

There are a number of possible methods to move rows/columns and a number of reasons it may not be fool proof. On Linux I can highlight a row/col, hold down left mouse button in one of the selected cells, press the Alt key then drag to new location.

See the many answers in this post for more → How to move columns/rows in Calc?

As for macro recording;

From menu select Tools->Options then under LibreOffice->Advanced. Lower center of dialog is ``Enable macro recording` and note it states (may be limited) because it is. Won’t do everything you may want. Learning to code macros is better. Just be aware.

Once this is set you can access from menu Tools->Macros->Record Macro.

Thank you! Both pieces of advice help.
