I have a large document that has a lot of underlined text. I would like to be able to use search/replace or something similar to mass-replace the underlining with italics. Is this possible?
How did you underline?
The Writer way is through character style. In this case, you just change the character style and “magically” all occurrences tagged with the style are updated to the new formatting.
The newbie way is with direct formatting (you manually activated underlining). You must then Edit
>Find & Replace
. Press button Attributes
and check Underline. You can’t directly replace attributes. So, leave blank Search for and Replace with.
- Either
Find All
and quit the dialog. The occurrences remain selected. You canCtrl
+U
(remove underline) andCtrl
+I
(set italics) - Or
Find
for the first occurrence, change the selection without closing the dialog, then press againFind
for next occurrence.
