How do I restore my old tool bar - I hate this ribbon thingy of Microsoft's - One of the major reasons I switched to LibreOffice.
You don’t specify which toolbar you are currently displaying. On a recent version, v220.127.116.11, if on the tabbed toolbar, click the gear icon in upper right corner. Then select
User Interface->Standard Toolbar. If a different ‘ribbon’ toolbar, then
Menu in upper right with same selections.
Don’t know what you are experiencing but here is your question under an edit using Firefox:
The icon just to the left of the paperclip is to add images.
Just wanted to add that the recent version’s notebookbar’s variants are all non-default options, and need explicit manual activation. So even if “One of the big reasons I use LibreOffice was the old user-frendly tool bar”, there’s no reason to be aggressive with those “I hate” in caption, since it’s you who enabled the option.
Sorry you were offended, my appologies. However, just so you know, I did not (did not) initiate the new tool bar it came up automatically when I opened the firts file after installing v18.104.22.168 (x64). Now, just tell me how to get back to the old tool bar, that’s all I want. The guy above suggested that I should click on the gear icon, however, there is no gear icon, nor a menu tab, so I’m lost.
Please post a screenshot, so that we know what you see. Or do a user profile reset.
I’m sorry. I’m new to some of this. I do not know how to upload a photo to this site, or attach a photo to this message. I tried to drag it to this text window, but that did not work. Perhaps I should just forget it and stop bothering you.
Please edit your question (

image <img> Ctrl-G control in the edit toolbar.
Mike thanks for your patients. As I said I’m pretty new at this. When I hit Ctrl-G ( I presume you mean the Ctrl key on the keyboard and the letter G) I get a “Find in page” box at the pop up at the bottom of my screen, nothing about image
See this image → How do I attach a file to my question/answer?. When you edit your question, this toolbar is above your question. The image pointed to has the ‘paperclip’ icon circled. This is to attach files. The icon to its left is the one you want. It is to attach images.

Sorry, my edit bar dosen’t have the icon shown in the tutorial. There is: Bold, Italic, an icon of a globe (link to a website I presume), 101/010, and the two list icons, both numerical and bullet—nothing else. And again when I hit Ctrl-G I get the search dialogue box at the bottom of my screen. I’m using Firefox v64.0 if that makes any difference.
Sorry, have to log off for a while.
@TomSaine Have increased your abilities (karma). Please try again.

What you describe is the edit toolbar in

The controls in the
Answer are different.
I give up! Evidently, Firefox displays things differently. I looked on the HELP at LibreOffice and I see the paperclip icon you describe on the EDIT tutorial there. However, my system doesn’t display it like that. I’ve clicked Ctrl G everywhere on the message, in the message, and all over the tool bar—Nothing.
Mike, Thanks for the help! I’m sorry I’ve wasted your time, I’ll just have to live with the ribbon, even though I find it much harder to navigate than the old GUI.

The first suggestion from me contained this:
Or do a user profile reset.
Did you follow the link and tried what I suggested?
