how do I set up one long page

Hi All,

I am writing a manual that is not intended to be printed. The page breaks are playing havoc with the graphic inserts.

How do I set up an 8.5" x infinity page, as is (sort of) done with html?

Many thanks,
-T

Maybe you can choose menu View - Web.

Max Page Height is 600 cm (at least in version 6.4.7.2).

Hi Astur, I did, you just misinterpreted me. The file is an ODT. The page breaks are killing me with my numerous graphic inserts. I want one LONG page with no breaks. -T

Please edit your question to give more details about your constraints.

Do you need sophisticated formatting features for your text? Do you number chapters? Has your document a TOC? Do you use cross-references and notes?

If answers are “No”, you can try creating an HTLM document. The page is (width of window, infinity) with no margins. But formatting possibilities are reduced.

With a standard document, what kind of issues are causing your graphic inserts? Do you know how to use frame styles for automatic placement of images within the page?

For some tasks, a wordprocessing app is not the right tool.

BlueGriffon may be what you need. Good feature set in the unlicensed version, and reasonably priced permanent (not subscription) license (which you most likely do not need, but you may choose to support them anyway).

Outputs html or epub. According to @Astur (see previous comment), Opera will facilitate pdf output from the html.

Try it out. Just going to cost you a couple of hours.

What I did was set the page length to 20000 and it changed it to a smaller large number. And that worked. I did not want to use html as I wanted everything constrained to a single document.

Though I did not want to use Blue Griffon for this, its would be nice for other things:
