i have never set up power point before. can this Libre Office do power point?
Powerpoint is MS software.
LibreOffice has the Impress component being usable for similar tasks, and compatible to some degree with ppt (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Feature_Comparison:LibreOffice-_Microsoft_Office#Presentation_software:_LibreOffice_Impress_vs._Microsoft_PowerPoint for details).
If you have installed LibreOffice, Impress is at your disposition. No special setup needed.
The Impress Guide 4.2 is a little old but still a good guide for current versions. It should help you understand the concepts and methods better than just Help by itself and its free
Libreoffice Impress is a presentation package like Powerpoint, if you need to create a presentation in Libreoffice but present using powerpoint, you can save from Impress in Powerpoint format (native save extension for Impress is .odp but select ‘save as’ and scrolldown and you will find .ppt etc.
It is a good idea to check on a powerpoint platform before presenting as some formatting issues may be created in the transition.
