Somebody send me a
Windows Defender saying
remove a virus, when I clicked I installed this malware, HELP PLEASE !!!

I think only an antivirus software can solve your issue. I think much of the main have a free version.
- Never use Internet Explorer;
- Never use Windows Defender. Disable it altogether and get Avast.
So, this is still going on. People are still clicking on such links & all their files are getting encrypted with an impossible-to-decrypt code?
Some important points:-
- Do NOT send money. They will NOT send you any decrypt code.
- Do NOT work as the root user.
Working as root allows the .exe file that you download to work on any file in your computer & do anything with everything that it wants.
Work as the non-root user & you will lose your personal files, but the computer system will be unaffected. - Change your working practices, else get tricked again.

Taking the DigiCert 2048-bit SSL certificate:
“It is therefore estimated, that standard desktop computing power would take 4,294,967,296 x 1.5 million years to break a DigiCert 2048-bit SSL certificate. Or, in other words, a little over 6.4 quadrillion years.”
It is, therefore, possible for you to decrypt the encryption used to lock you out from your files. It is simply that you will not even any longer be dust by the time that it occurs.
I appreciate that this is NOT the response that you wish to read. Try, if you can, not to blame the messenger.
