How to add text to a cell with existing text without using mouse

Hello, help a newbie out!

Is there a way to add text to a cell with existing text without using the mouse?

I am used to pressing “enter” and it opening the highlighted cell so you can add text without overwriting. Is there a way, EXCLUSIVELY with the keyboard, that you can add text to a cell that already contains text?

This is driving me up the wall, as I couldn’t figure out how to phrase this to google or find anything in the help forum :weary:

try the F2key

You can configure Calc so that this happens. Tools → Options → LibreOffice Calc → General.

Thank you, that will be easiest for me!

And what is a problem with the usage a mouse? It is a very comfortable device.

I’m a very fast typist and working with text-heavy data. Using a mouse slows me down significantly, especially in spreadsheets where I am used to being able to perform almost all tasks without a mouse and via shortcuts. If that’s not the case for you, whoop-de-doo

And how you can manage (create, modify, and apply) the styles without a mouse? The styles are the most valuable feature of the AOO and LO.
How you can create and edit charts in the Calc without a mouse? …
Maybe you can type-in the data faster, but the other important parts of the editing will be slower. (IMHO)

Okay genius, it isn’t about never using a mouse, it is about minimizing it as much as possible for efficiency. Does being a condescending prick online make your life better?
