how to delete a document from LibreOffice Writer 5

I have windows 10 … but my Version of LibreOffice is old … LibreOffice 5. I only use it for personal things, not work-related {so it works perfect}. I have a document that is entitled “photo.let.odt” and I need to delete it. Help!

p.s. I’m an old lady who is ‘technically challenged’; so I’m hoping the ‘steps to delete’ are simple enough for me.
I really don’t want to call my IT guy and pay him for a service call. Many thanks.

p.s. If you find another ‘user name’ that says LBHatfield … you can delete that one. I erroneously duplicated my ‘sign on’ process. I’ll keep the ‘user name’ LoriAnn57

Hello, @LoriAnn57, LibreOffice won’t and can’t delete your document for you. For that, you need to use your operating system’s file manager. I don’t have Windows 10 so I can’t tell you exactly how to do that. In earlier versions of Windows, the file manager was called Windows Explorer (not to be confused with Internet Explorer!), so if you can find a program called Explorer that would be your tool to delete that document.

You should also be able to find the document in a folder that used to be called My Documents (in versions before Windows 10). That might still be the case. If you can find your document in a Documents folder, then you should be able to delete it just by right-clicking on the file name and selecting Delete from the list of possible actions.

By the way, you can remove the document from LibreOffice recent file list by clicking on the little “X” that appears in the upper right hand corner of the icon. But that does not delete it.

I hope this helps.
