Technophobe here, please bear with me while I ask very beginner questions…
Yesterday I downloaded version 26.2.5 ARM64 on my windows 11 laptop. It seemed fine. Big celebrations!
Today it wouldn’t open so I uninstalled and reinstalled it. It won’t work - the error message says “This installation package is not supported by this process type. Contact your product vendor.”
I have tried installing other versions and also the X86-64. Always the same message.
Yes, I have tried switching my laptop off and on again.
Any suggestions as to what to try next would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
The message you’ve got seems to indicate you downloaded for the wrong CPU, but as/if you tried both (x64 and arm) one of them should work.
What Information can you give about the CPU in your laptop?
Only download or also installed?
Did LibreOffice itself opened?
Thank you Wanderer. Yes, I tried all the combinations available in case that was the issue.
CPU base speed is 2.30 GHz, 1 socket, 12 logical processors, virtualisation is enabled. I don’t think you need info on my caches or any of the things which change over time?

LibreOffice opened the first day but then didn’t the second day. This is very strange, right? After that, I uninstalled and reinstalled it and had the error message I shared.
Are you suggesting I follow all of the instructions in the wiki you gave me? I will try this if you recommend it.
First, it would be best to establish what processor you have. Click Start menu > Settings > System > About and then copy what it says for Processor, e.g. Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz (1.99 GHz)

My guess is that you have an ARM processor but your security software has removed part of the program and blocked it from being installed. Try adding C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\program\soffice.bin to your anti virus’s Allowed List. Then reinstall LibreOffice.
I don’t need anything. Problem is yours.
Compared to cars you have told us something like “v8-engine with 88 PS and 5 seats”. Try to find out where this was constructed.
I googled his text and hits on Intel i3 looks much more promising than anything when adding ARM to search-list. Actually this thread was #5 hit in my list. So I guess he has a cheaper office pc or laptop with Intel cpu. Then the x64 download would be right.
As @Gwenthegwen told the program opened the first day this would be a bad job for security system. Malware needs to be blocked on first run, not on second day.
My ideas would then be around blocking the daily online update. As I don’t use it I don’t know if this can “wait forever” or maybe no access to profile.
Not all, only the hint to remove the profile, before you re-install. As you are a new user you can skip the hints on “backup first” - there is nothing valuable in your profile.
Find and delete the folder %APPDATA%\libreoffice\4\user
I usually open Windown explorer and type the %APPDATA% in the folder/path bar, then hit return, because Microsoft decided to hide this folder from you.
And that could be the first time that LibreOffice wrote to the LibreOffice user profile, a sub-folder of a system folder, as part of its shut down process. It is still worth adding LibreOffice to the Allowed list of the security software.

L’ouvrir et choisir l’emplacement où vous souhaitez que votre programme soit disponible. Choisissez votre langue dès le départ dans les choix proposés au tout début du processus pour l’installation.
Ensuite, ce dernier se met en route, vous avez juste à suivre ce qui vous est demandé dans votre langue, confirmé si demandé et patienter jusqu’à ce que le processus se termine? Vous serez averti lorsque ce sera terminé et invité à cocher la case “ouvrir les programme”.
