How to insert a word in each row?

Dear All,
I have a libreoffice cal file:

     A          B            C
1    data1      data2        data3
2    data4      data5        data6
3    data7      data8        data9

I want to insert a world ‘dummy-’ for each data in column A just like:

     A                B            C
1    dummy-data1      data2        data3
2    dummy-data4      data5        data6
3    dummy-data7      data8        data9

Is there any was to do that??

Thank you.

Thank you David and karolus~both answers are great to me~

  1. Click on the heading of Column A to select that column;
  2. Hit CTRL-H to bring up the “Find & Replace” dialog;
  3. Make sure the “Other Options” toggle is “open”, and put a [✓] in “Current Selection only”;
  4. Put “data” in the “Search for” box, hit “Find All”; that should show you exactly the cells which will be affected by any change;
  5. Finally, put “dummy-data” in the “Replace with” box, and click “Replace All”.

Done.

@karolus - no, I don’t - but with that example I thought OP should be able to modify whatever the real “data” is. Of course, your regex will do it nicely – probably even niceR! But two quality answers in 3 1/2 minutes (we were obviously posting at the same time) is no bad thing, either. :slight_smile:
