How to permanently change decimal from comma (,) to dot (.)?

In a column, i want all the numbers to have the decimal separator a dot instead of a comma. But, when I type in a number such as 1.50 or 1.66, I get an #### as the value. If i type 1,50 - it works like it should. HOW can i use the decimal separator as a dot (.) instead of a comma (,) without it turning into #### in Libreoffice Calc, newest version?

Just for clarification: It did NOT work to change the language to english (i normally use norwegian), neither in Tools > Options > Language settings or mark the entire column > format cells > numbers > change the language there to English…

HOW do i use dot instead of comma then?!

You need to select English (USA) in the first tab (Numbers) to change the number interpretation. The setting in the second tab is only for spell checking, I believe.

At least, that works for me in Calc version 7.2.5.2.

Just try formatting a single cell, and enter a number into that. If that does not work for you, please state explicitly the version number (from Help - About), and also the operating system you are running.

South African English officially uses comma as decimal separator. This also is reflected in the Calc settings. AFAIK all other English variants will use the period/point.

Yes, sir. Changing it to USA in the Numbers-tab (in Format Cells) did the trick for me. Thank you!
