Currently the page numbers on all pages display to the left of the page in the footer. But I want to display it on the left on one page and to the right on the next page and then to the left on the next page and so on. So that when it prints as a book, the page numbers always show at the outer side of the pages. How can I do this?
The default for a new document is Left and Right pages but the footer needs adjusting.
Click Format > Page style, in the dialog that opens select the tab Footer. Untick the box that says Same content on left and right pages and OK.
Go into the footer where the number is on an inside edge and click just before the page number then tab twice to put the page number on the outside edge. All the other right pages will copy the setting.
