I would like to put ticks ( ✓ ) in certain cells in my spreadsheet.
Can that be done?
I have been trying to do the same thing for days now with no luck at all.
Every single attempt I have made has resulted in nothing happening. I have added the form controls to the top bar of the calc / spreadsheet page and yes, I have clicked the design mode option first so that I can click on the check box - took quite a few times to realize what was meant by design mode to begin with - grrrr… Anyway, after doing all of that and I click on the check box icon and then point my arrow at the cell that I want to put that check box in ----Absolutely Nothing Happens. Some information says to drag it to that location so I have taken my mouse, clicked and held the mouse button down and tried to drag it to that cell, but that is a joke! I have even then clicked on “design mode” so that I can’t select the checkbox icon to see if it would then appear, but nothing at all!!!
I too would greatly appreciate it if someone could please explain how to use that function. It wasn’t that hard to get the checkbox to work in MS Excel!
Yes, but …
Don’t use ‘Answer’ if it is not an answer.
The other non-answer you posted contains two detailed howtos.
Better open your own request. It’s easier to trace and your chance to receive an answer is better.
It is not clear, that the OP of this request has the same intend that you are seeking for.
From what you write it seems that you go through the steps in the wrong sequence.
Also, is it possible that you missunderstand placing the control in oposition to linking the control?
Quote “It wasn’t that hard to get the checkbox to work in MS Excel!” - but you know, it won’t work without VBA whilst it is operational in LO without further ado?
sorry about that, I didn’t realize that there was an option for answer as well as add comment. I do apologize for that.
While editing a cell enter 2713
(the Unicode code for ✓
in hex) followed by Alt+X
and it will convert the Unicode number to character. Note that either a blank should precede the 2713 value, or write it as U+2713
, or you may need to select the number before pressing Alt+X, otherwise a preceding character may be included in the conversion as well if it is a valid hexadecimal digit (a-f).
thank you very much. I also found a web site where we can copy for pasting some characters. I’ve been using that. I pasted the char ( a tick ) into notepad and kept it and when I want a tick now I copy and paste from there.
Your solution is going to be easier, thanks.
