I have a ODS file that I password protected the file. Out of the blue I can no longer get into it and my password does not work. I’ve tried several methods to try and get into to it to no avail. I tried changing the file extension to .zip and then open it. When I did that I could not make heads or tails of it since I do not read Chinese, Japanese or whatever the hell it is in. I’ve tried online password removers and lo and behold they want you to put in the password for the sheet. If the password worked I would not need an online remover! Sorry if I come off as an ass but I’m pissed and I need to get into the file for info to login to my social security account. Any help would be appreciated.
If encryption was breakable, encryption would be obsolete.
Password protection would be of no use if it could be removed without the password.
Hopefully your password was short, and you can remember parts of it.
Then make a list of what seems possible . Try each entry (and cross out what already was tried).
Many years ago I Wrote some UDFs to help with the testing of possible passwords. I f you want to try it, I will look for it tomorrow.
Did you by any chance recently upgrade your version of Libre office?
There have been a few bugs reported around password protected files, e.g.:
Not that I know of.
I’m guessing you just keep on plugging in passwords till you hit on it…hopefully right? Thanks for the info.
