How to search and replace "*" if after * is no space?

If I copy text from sources like LLM ChatBox, they often add ** or * as bolding text or as a topic.

If I want to remove *-characters, I use Search - Replace “*” to empty, which should work, but LibreOffice do not find *-characters if there is no space after “*”. Is this typical behavior, or a bug?

Provide an example of exact text that you have in Writer; and the screenshot if the Find & Replace dialog with the search text (and all options shown).

In the Find box or in the document?

Thank you for comments. This was perhaps broken install, because after apt remove and install problem is gone. At least I am not able to reproduce the problem. Procedure for testing:

Copy something from ChatGPT/Mistral/DeepSeek with bolded topics (Ctrl + c), Paste Special to Writer when bolded lines got * text * and topcis got text (seems to turn bold here too, so star star text star star). Go to Writer Edit - Find and Replace (Ctrl + h), find “*” and replace: empty. Then Replace all. Previously Writer was able to remove *-characters if there were not character just after *, meaning *text did not work, but * text worked.

that is Markdown-Syntax, and yes on this ask-site/discourse also possible.
