How to select text in LibreOffice?

Greetings LibreOffice.

I wish to select text from a PDF I have downloaded, but due to the PDF being that of a C.E. 1930 book - I am using this offensive, BIGOTED book to research scientific racism and superseded scientific hypotheses for my family folkways paper: long story - the wording appears as images rather than words, so I cannot copy and paste the words. I am trying to find “select all text” but it would appear “select all” does not have the same result? What should I do?

Yours sincerely

You will need to use Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to convert the image to text. Windows and Mac have a basic OCR built in and many Linux distributions have Tesseract available to do the job.
Some printer/scanners have OCR software bundled with the driver.
The best results are obtained from the more expensive commercial software but open source or free OCR can deliver good results.
It is best to copy and paste as unformatted text from the resulting document into your own document to avoid layout problems
