How to set axis origin?

I need to make a simple line chart for three city populations over time. When I graph it, the Y axis starts at zero. This leaves a huge bank of whitespace and little resolution on the changes over time.
How do I set the Y-axis origin to some value such as 20 million?

If I click on the chart to select format axis I mostly just get an option to format the wall.

If I do do get the option (so far I cannot get a Y axis, only the X), from there on Scale, I have the option to Reverse direction, or Type: Automatic, Text, Date

I’m an English major, this is uncharted territory (ba-da-bum-tsch!).

Libreoffice Calc 7.2.7.2

Thank you.

Have you tried clicking on one of the numbers along the y-axis? That should produce a little menu with an option to Format the y-axis, from which you can choose to set the Scale of the axis. Start by unselecting “Automatic” so that you can enter you own choices for the minimum, maximum, graduation interval, etc.

Or simply pick from the toolbar’s listbox Y Axis and then menu Format → Format Selection…

Ha! Right you are, @erAck! I have never noticed that and have always done it “the old way”. Two working methods, but yours is easier than mine. @jimmjimm, there you go, take your pick.

First you must edit the chart to enable the (Chart) Formatting toolbar.

Of course, same as for to be able to click the axis.
