I’ve used OOo/LO (and Writer here discussed) for 20 years, but in the last couple years the stupidest thing was implemented: the tabs in tabbed view switch automatically when entering a table, etc…
Most of the time if I enter a table, it is not to modify table properties, but the text within, the font, the font size, etc… basically what I was doing prior to entering the table.
From the tabbed view initial appearance to a couple years ago, LO just let me switch tabs myself whenever I felt like I needed it. But now it randomly jumps to a different tab when I don’t need it 99% of the time. And I waste 50% of my time in Writer just going back to the tab I was on so I can do actual productive work.
This is driving me crazy, and I can’t seem to find an option to turn it off. It’s unusable as it has now become.
Please tell me where is the option to turn this nasty thing off. There must be one, it can’t have become so utterly useless by design. Let me take back control of how I write documents.
The app should never assume what we want to do. It’s not in our head, so it will fail almost every time. And that’s exactly why many people hate MS Office, because it assumes wrong half of what we want to do. Please don’t make LO the same garbage as MS Office.
In anticipation, don’t tell me to use a different interface, I like the tabbed view. I just need it to stop automatically switching tabs, even just as an option.
