Hyperlinks disappear from TOC

I have had a document with a table of contents with hyperlinks that I have been using for a year. When I opened it on a new laptop in a new installation of libreoffice, the hyperlinks were gone.

I decided not to save the file and opened it on my other laptop, where it has always worked, and the hyperlinks are still there. (Incidentally, the file is in *.doc format and has never given me this problem before.)

I am afraid to open and work in it in my new laptop because it will strip the hyperlinks.

What’s going on? Is there some default in the new installation that I have to flip?

Always save in the native file format of LibreOffice ODT.

And always create backups of your files.

What are the OS and LO versions on both computer?
As @Hrbrgr points out, how do you expect Writer to handle an alien format just the same as its own format? Specification of the alien format is not under control of TDF.

The file where the hyperlinks are stripped is exactly one of those that I have been using daily with libreoffice for two years and no problem, until I tried to use a new installation of libreoffice on a different laptop. Libreoffice has been quite capable of understanding doc files and still is on my old laptop. What’s changed on the new installation?

I have Windows 11 and LibreOffice 7.5.2.2 (x86.64) installed on the new laptop where the problem occurs.

And on the old laptop?

Both laptops are recent HP models too, with all drivers fully up to date.

Both laptops have the same windows 11 and libreoffice versions, with all drivers and windows updates applied and up to date.

I suspect there’s some hidden setting that needs to be changed in the new installation but have no idea what.

I just checked. The new laptop where the problem is has libreoffice 7.6.3.2 while the old laptop where the problem doesn’t happen has libreoffice 7.5.2.2. I thought I had recently updated the old laptop but perhaps not. I’ll try that.

Or not. If I upgrade the old laptop may develop the same problem. I think I leave it until I learn what’s up with 7.6 not able to do something that 7.5 did fine.

I just replaced the 7.6 with 7.5.9 and 7.5.9 solves my problem. Hyperlinks now work in my *.doc file TOCs.
