I am trying to write a novel using libreoffice and am confused about how to indent in libreoffice and how to properly format it for editor viewing. Can anyone help?

If anyone can help please do!

Select Format>Paragraph>Indents&Spacing. Also see advice at Indenting Paragraphs - LibreOffice Help.

For something as long as a novel, I would create an indented paragraph style. This greatly simplifies any reformatting you want to do as the text takes shape.

As when first using any tool, do some basic homework and practice to get you started.

1 Look at chapter 4 of the LO 6.0 Getting Started Guide, “Getting Started with Writer”, including “Formatting Text” at page 100 et seq and the advice on paragraph styles (you will probably need to work with them before the other kinds of style).

2 Look for more information in the LO 6.0 WriterGuide, especially “Formatting Text” on page 84 et seq.

3 But try not to be carried away and create too many styles – follow the old aero designers’ advice “keep it simple stupid” (KISS).

4 And use the online help, eg at Styles and Formatting - LibreOffice Help.

5 You can download the LO guides as PDFs, free of charge, from the LO documentation page English documentation | LibreOffice Documentation - Your documentation for LibreOffice.

Advice on what to submit to a book editor or publisher is not really a matter for a forum on LO. Why not ask the editor you prefer to say how they like authors’ work to be presented? A web search will also turn up lots of advice for authors, eg Submitting a Manuscript to an Agent or Publisher | Novel Writing Help , https://www.waterstones.com/help/how-to-get-published/156 , 6 Tips for Submitting Your Manuscript to Publishers , etc, etc. You will need to decide for yourself how much of it can be trusted.

Hi,thank you! I do apologize but I am so very new with libreoffice and navigating it. Lol. Would you mind giving a step by step instruction on how to properly indent using libreoffice and format for editors? I apologize if this is a tedious thing to ask.
