I am unable to open a Publisher document in LibreOffice

How do I open a MS Publisher file in LibreOffice? I get an error message. I am new to this program.

I use LibreOffice 25.8.1.1 on a MacBook Tahoe 26.0.1. Since MS Publisher is no more and I have hundreds of docs in Publisher format, am looking to convert (other than to .pdf) to another program. Click Tools - Options - LibreOffice - View and tick the box Force Skia software rendering. This might not fix the problem but it should really be set as default.

I haven’t had problems opening .pub files in the past but all files are different in their content. There was a similar question on the AOO forum, try the two suggestions there: make sure you aren’t opening from email and try the online service. https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?p=454959
